How to win it
If you are a non-traditional student, such as a single parent, sole provider, someone experiencing homelessness, a person with a disability, or a ward of the court, and you maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, you have a strong foundation to apply for this scholarship. Focus your application on how your studies connect to Hawaiian Culture and Language, environmental stewardship, or STEM fields, since those areas receive special emphasis. If you live on a neighbor island rather than O'ahu, be sure to highlight that, as non-O'ahu residents are given priority consideration.
