How to win it
Focus your essay on specific details about your community service, naming the organizations you have volunteered with, the number of hours you have contributed, and how you plan to keep serving the Hawaiian community in the future. Choose your two recommenders carefully, making sure one is a current academic faculty member and the other is a community leader, coach, or similar figure who can speak directly to your service commitment. A strong GPA of at least 2.5 and a genuine, detailed account of your volunteer work will help you stand out as a dedicated and community-minded applicant.
