The 2027-2028 HCF Common Scholarship Application opens on December 1, 2026. Apply by February 1, 2027, 4 PM Hawai’i Standard Time.
Resident of the State of Hawai’i; Demonstrate financial need; Minimum 2.0 GPA; Attend a two or four year college or university; Permanently or temporarily separated from birth parent(s) due to being placed under the State of Hawaii foster care, including those who aged out of the State of Hawaii foster care system.; Be a resident on the island of Kaua’i; Major in healthcare, education or social wo.
How to win it
Focus your application on clearly documenting your foster care background and your connection to Kauai, since these are central eligibility requirements for this scholarship. Make sure your essays highlight your commitment to a career in healthcare, education, or social work, showing how your experiences have shaped that goal. As long as you maintain at least a 2.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need, you have a strong foundation to present a compelling case to the Hawaii Community Foundation.
