The 2027-2028 HCF Common Scholarship Application opens on December 1, 2026. Apply by February 1, 2027, 4 PM Hawai’i Standard Time.
Be a resident of the State of Hawaii; Demonstrate financial need; Be in good academic standing by maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0; Resident of the Hilo Coast and the Hamakua Coast, north of the Wailuku River; Taking college courses in agriculture, science, medicine, nursing, other skilled lab, X-ray or trade schools requiring special education and training.
How to win it
Focus on clearly demonstrating your financial need and confirming that your coursework falls within the eligible fields, such as agriculture, science, medicine, nursing, or specialized lab and trade programs. Since the GPA requirement is a minimum 2.0, make sure your transcripts reflect that you are in good academic standing. Highlight your roots on the Hilo or Hamakua Coast, north of the Wailuku River, as your local connection is a key part of what makes you a strong candidate for this scholarship.
