The 2027-2028 HCF Common Scholarship Application opens on December 1, 2026. Apply by February 1, 2027, 4 PM Hawai’i Standard Time.
Be a resident of the State of Hawaii; Demonstrate financial need; Be in good academic standing or by maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0; Attend a college or university in Hawai'i; In a separate essay, briefly describe how your life was personally impacted by a social problem you experienced such as: incarceration, substance abuse, homelessness, domestic abuse or violence.

How to win it
Focus your application on writing a sincere, personal essay that honestly describes how a specific social challenge like incarceration, homelessness, substance abuse, or domestic violence has shaped your life journey. Be direct and reflective, showing not just the hardship but how it has influenced your path forward. Make sure you can demonstrate financial need and that you are maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA, since both are required to be considered.
