The 2027-2028 HCF Common Scholarship Application opens on December 1, 2026. Apply by February 1, 2027, 4 PM Hawai’i Standard Time.
Be a resident of the State of Hawai’i; Demonstrate financial need; Minimum GPA of 2.7; Attend an accredited two- or four-year college, university or art school; Intend to major in Fine Arts with preference given to students focusing on painting, drawing, sculpting, ceramics, printmaking, or textile.; Provide 2 letters of recommendation; 1 from an art teacher; 1 from a non related person.
How to win it
Keep your GPA at or above 2.7 and make sure your application clearly highlights your focus on painting, drawing, sculpting, ceramics, printmaking, or textiles, since those specializations are preferred. Choose your two recommenders carefully, securing one letter from an art teacher who can speak to your creative skills and one from an unrelated person who can vouch for your character and dedication. Demonstrating genuine financial need alongside a strong artistic focus will give your application the best chance of standing out to the Hawaii Community Foundation.
